ISO Public Protection Classification
The Insurance Services Office (ISO) evaluates fire departments and assigns a Public Protection Classification (PPC) rating on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the best. This rating directly affects homeowner insurance premiums in our service area.
What the Rating Means for You
Your property insurance premium is partially based on the ISO rating of your local fire department. A better rating means better fire protection capabilities, which can result in lower insurance premiums for homeowners and businesses in our district.
How ISO Ratings Are Determined
ISO evaluates three main areas:
- Emergency Communications (10%): 911 dispatch systems and staffing
- Fire Department (50%): Equipment, staffing, training, and geographic coverage
- Water Supply (40%): Hydrant systems, water volume, and pressure
For questions about our ISO rating or how it affects your insurance, contact your insurance agent or reach out to the fire department.
