Public Records Request (IPRA)
The Estancia Fire Department is subject to the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA), NMSA 1978, 14-2-1 through 14-2-12. Members of the public may request inspection of public records maintained by the department.
How to Submit a Request
Submit your request in writing to the records custodian. Include:
- Your name and contact information
- A description of the records you are requesting (be as specific as possible)
- Your preferred format (paper copies, electronic, inspection)

Response Timeline
Under IPRA, the department will respond within 15 calendar days. If additional time is needed, you will be notified in writing. Some records may be exempt from disclosure under IPRA, including personnel records, medical records, and active investigation files.
Fees
Reasonable fees may be charged for copies in accordance with IPRA guidelines. The first hour of search time is provided at no cost.
